Edith Bangor, 78, a longtime resident of Hazleton, passed away peacefully Sept. 19 in her home at Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. She moved to Hawaii in 2006 to be with her daughter, Marianne. Edith enjoyed the sunshine and the aloha from the many people she met in Hawaii.
Born in Hazleton on Jan. 3, 1930, she was the daughter of Mary and Bernard Van Groski and graduated from Hazleton Area High School in 1947. She was employed by Bell Telephone for 37 years in Hazleton, Levittown and Fort Lauderdale, and was active in The Deborah Foundation. Edith was a longtime member of Our Lady of Grace Church, Hazleton.
She is survived by children, Tony, Hazleton; Marianne, Hawaii; and Jim, Florida; a sister, Bernice Harman, Selbyville, Delaware; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her last rites were said in Hawaii by Father Al in Kailua-Kona. Arrangements by Cremation Services of West Hawaii. A Mass will be said for Edith at Our Lady of Grace Church at a later date. Contributions can be made to Deborah Heart and Lung Foundation.
