Rites For Pioneer Resident At Truro
Final rites for Gertrude Husted Dowler were held Monday afternoon, Aug. 22, 1955, at the Kale Funeral home in Truro.
Mrs. Dowler died Aug. 20, at the Clarke County hospital, in Osceola. She was 86 years of age.
The daughter of James and Jane Hull, she was born in Ohio township of Madison county, on Jan. 21, 1869.
She was a member of the Church of Christ at Osceola, the Royal Neighbors, Rebekah and Pythian Sisters lodges.
On March 22, 1890, she was married to Robert S. Husted. Mr. Husted died in 1913, and 20 years later, on March 18, 1933, she was married to Hamilton R. Dowler.
Mr. and Mrs. Dowler lived in Wyoming until his death in 1941, when she returned to Truro to make her home.
Surviving are three children, Mrs. Donovan Fisher of Menlo Park, Calif., two brothers, Miles and Eugene Husted of Truro; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 11 step-children.
