SMSgt (Ret) John G. Foskey Sr. "J.G." age 83 of Dundee passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, April 15, 2011 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
J.G. was born March 3, 1928, in the town of Wauchula, Hardee County, to the late Willis and Blanch Foskey.
A devoted family man, he is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Marjorie Powell Foskey; sister, Essie Deer of Wauchula; two sons and three daughters: Cynthia Wimberley, Steven Foskey Sr. (Stacey), Virginia Shuff-Dowd (Randy), Lenora Hales (Tony) and MSgt (Ret) John Foskey Jr. (Carol); eight grandchildren, Audra, Karen, Steven Jr. , Stacey, Hunter, David, Tori and Christopher; four great grandchildren Nathan, Mac-kenzie, Abbigail and Addison.
John proudly served twenty four years in the United States Air Force as a ground radar technician during the Korean and Vietnam wars, with tours in the Philippines, Taiwan, France, Arizona, North Dakota, North Carolina, Ohio and Florida. He was the proprietor of both The Chopping Block Meat Market and Marjon Fence Company. John faithfully served and worshipped his Lord at Dundee Baptist Church and will be greatly missed by all.
