Thomas John Diehl, 73, of Goshen, NY died on November 24, 2014 in his home. He was the husband of Susan Marie Beatty. Born on June 12, 1941 in Allentown, he was the adopted son of the late Revere and Elmira (Bachert) Diehl, and biological son of the late Gwendolyn L. (Elliott) Unger. He graduated from Allentown High School in 1959 and later continued his education at LCCC graduating with an Associate’s in 1977 and Moravian College receiving his Bachelor’s in 1980. Thomas was the Director of Real Estate Services with Bethlehem Steel for 31 years before retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Mennonite Church of Allentown, and the Scottish Rite Society of Lehigh Valley. He played for Allentown Rugby FC and Bethlehem Hooligans FC 1972 through 1982. Thomas enjoyed genealogy research and was an active member of the Orange County Genealogical Society, NY, the Elliott Clan Society, Scottish Historical and Research Society of Delaware Valley. He also enjoyed Scottish dancing, Celtic music, rugby, and was a history and cinematic arts enthusiast.

Surviving in addition to his wife are sons and daughters, Joanne T. Smida of Emmaus; Thomas E. Diehl and wife Dianne of Harrisburg; Elizabeth F. Rivas and husband Sergio, Catherine T. Arawjo and husband Kevin, Andrew Elliott Beatty Diehl all of Bethlehem, Francesca Marie Beatty Diehl of CA; six grandchildren; sisters, Karen Eckert of MD and Bonnie Ackerman of Bethlehem.

Memorial service will be held 12 noon on Friday, January 9th at Cantelmi Funeral Home, 1311 Broadway, Fountain Hill. Inurnment will take place in St. Mark's Cemetery, Allentown.
