Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his sister Callie Frances Alexander; maternal grandmother, Marguerite Register Alphin; uncles and aunts, William A. and Suzan Alexander, Gilbert E. and Karen Alphin, and Billy and Anita Alphin Bryan; cousins, Drew Alexander (Leslie), Stephen Baucum, Elizabeth Baucum, John Houston Bryan, and Macaulay Grace Bryan. He was predeceased by grandparents, M.O. and Marion Alexander and Dr. John Gilbert Alphin.
A celebration of Clayton's life was held Saturday February 7 at First Baptist Church of Simpsonville, SC officiated by Rev. Brian Owens. On Monday February 9, a graveside committal service was held at the Gilbert E and Eva Grady Alphin Cemetery on Alphin Road, Mt. Olive, N.C The Reverend Wanda Simmons officiated.
Clayton enjoyed the outdoors and loved being with his sister behind their Dad’s boat on Lake Jocassee. He was a deer hunter and a guitarist. He was a member of the wrestling team and broadcast journalism team at Lexington High School. He was a former member of Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church in Lexington.
