Four Oaks: Mrs. Carol Strickland Buchanan, age 82, of Four Oaks died Friday, January 10, 2014, at SECU Hospice in Smithfield. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, January 12, 2014, at the First Advent Christian Church in Four Oaks with Rev. Jimmy Wooten, Rev. Grace Hargis and Rev. Billy Mobley officiating. Burial will follow in Barbour’s Chapel Church Cemetery in Four Oaks, NC.
Mrs. Buchanan was born September 26, 1931 to the late Archie & Della Blackmon Strickland. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first Husband, William O. Mobley, Sr.; a Son-In-Law, Dean Jackson; and a brother, Edward Strickland. Mrs. Buchanan was an in home child daycare giver to over forty children who knew her as “Grandma Carol.” She was a member of the First Advent Christian Church of Four Oaks.
Survivors include; Husband of 48 Years, David Buchanan; Daughter, Delaine Jackson of Four Oaks; Son & Daughter-in- law, Rev. William “Billy” O. & Sheila Mobley, Jr. of Monroe, NC; Brother & sister-in-law, Tommy & Phyllis Strickland of Clayton, NC; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Strickland of Smithfield; Four Grandchildren; Six Great-Grandchildren; and Several Nieces & Nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00PM Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks and other times at the home of Delaine Jackson, 726 Old School Road, Four Oaks.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SECU Hospice House, Smithfield Rescue Mission or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
