R. Dean Neal, 76, of Punxsutawney, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015, at home.

He was born June 18, 1938, in Johnsonburg, Pa., Indiana County, a son of the late Katherine (White) and Ralph W. Neal.

On Aug. 15, 1975, he married the love of his life, Doreen "Gay" (Vogus) Neal, who survives.

He was a member of the Cloe United Methodist Church for over 50 years.

He previously worked for his father at P&N Coal Company before starting Keystone Mining, which became Cloe Mining, for which he is most noted. He was at one time the owner of Acme Machine and also was a part owner of the Standard Pennant Company.

Dean enjoyed reading, spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, gardening, fishing and family vacations.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include a daughter, Holly Marie Sweat and husband Daniel of Greenville, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Jetts Neal Allen and husband Matthew C. of Virginia, Joseph Dean Neal, a United States Marine stationed in San Diego, California, and Mason and Taylor Sweat of Greenville, North Carolina; a sister, Martha Robbins of Punxsutawney; and a brother, Max Neal and wife Diane of Punxsutawney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Michael Neal.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Union Hill Cemetery, Rossiter.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Neal to the Cloe United Methodist Church.
