GEO. LUCKENBAUGH OVER FOUR SCORE YEARS

George Luckenbaugh-The hand of death again visited our community and has removed from our midst a highly respected citizen, George Luckenbaugh of Cumberland township, who died with complication of diseases on Thursday evening at 5 o'clock, Aug. 20, at the residence of his son, A.T. Luckenbaugh, near Taneytown and Gettysburg road. He was aged 84 yrs. 2 mos and 27 days. Mr Luckenbaugh was in failing health for several years but was not confined to bed all of the time. Deceased was a consistent member of the Mt. Joy Lutheran church, and calmly passed away. His attendants left nothing undone for his comfort. He was married to Miss Susanah Harbold, who departed this life almost four years ago. Nine children survive him, four sons and five daughters, all of whom were able to attend the funeral except one daughter, Mrs. Jacob Starner of near Abbottstown. The children are Oliver and Truman Luckenbaugh of Cumberland township, John Luckenbaugh of Gettysburg, O., Mrs. Eli Palmer of Mount Pleasant, Mrs. Jacob Starner of near Abbottstown, Mrs. Albert Sipling of New Baltimore, Mrs. John Black and Mrs. John. W. Maring both of Cumberland township. Two brothers and one sister also survive. John Luckenbaugh of Spring Grove, Joseph Luckenbaugh of Hanover, Mrs. Elizabeth Rudisill of Spring Grove. Many of his friends and associates attested to his worth as a citizen and the respect in which they held him by visiting him during his illness and turning out to pay their last respects when he was buried on Sunday morning. The funeral took place at the house. After short services the funeral proceeded to Mt. Joy Church where services were held and internment was made. Rev. E.P. Stockslager officiated. The Pallbearers were Jacob F. Waybright, A.M. Waybright, David Maring, Aaron C. Fleck, Wm. H. Cromer and Jas. H. Reaver.
