Aletha Fay (Murray) Steffen, 62, of Mt. Zion, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Ali was born on May 24, 1952 in Decatur the daughter of Charles W. and Lauretta M. (Barrett) Murray. She was a graduate of Lakeview High School class of 1970. She was a cook for many local restaurants. Most recently she worked for Soy Capital Bank and the Senior Center. She married John Morey Jr. on May 15, 1971 and to this union her only daughter Carissa was born. She later married Robert Steffen. They both preceded her in death.
Surviving are her daughter, Carissa Hayes (Greg) of Mt. Zion; parents, Charles W. and Lauretta M. Murray; grandchildren, Hailey, Johnathan, Lindsay, and Elisabeth Hayes; sister, Kitty Hott; brother, Chuck Murray; sisters-in-law, Ethel Crouch, Betty Wade, and Dot Janvrin (Gary); and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother Jessie Powell, husbands, her sister Charlene, father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Evelyn Morey.
Funeral service to celebrate Aletha's life will be 11 AM Friday, February 13, 2015 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be 10-11 AM Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery in Long Creek Township. Memorials are suggested to the family.
