Early Life: Jess was born on July 5, 1929, at home in Provo, Utah, to Everett Burrows and Louise Meyer Richmond. He was the fourth of six children and was raised in Provo.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: Jess served in the United States Army as an M.P. from 1950 to 1952. He attended Utah Trade Tech studying cabinetry and electrical automation. He was employed by Geneva Steel for 35 years. To those he worked with, he was always known as the Claim Jumper. Jess married Grace Marlene Cox on October 17, 1952; together they raised seven children. They were later divorced. Using his many talents, Jess built three homes. He also bought and rebuilt many automobiles. Family was very important to him; holidays were traditionally enjoyed with a very large extended family. Jess Meyer Richmond passed away on February 7, 2015, due to complications from surgery.
