Came to the colony in 1827, and in 1840 he came overland with Patrick Leslie from Collaroy a farm within the settled district of Cassilis, no small distance from New England, to the Darling Downs. They were the first two pioneers from New South Wales to Queensland. A convict for life, who had behaved splendidly, Sir George Gipps granted him a ticket-of-leave, and a conditional pardon.
