Levi Bridgewater, an aged and respected
pioneer citizen of this county,
died January 27, 1913, about 9 o'clock
p. m. at his home at Pleasant Grove,
of heart trouble and infirmities of old
age.
Deceased was born in Washington
county, Oct. 10, 1824, and at the time
of his death he was 88 years, 3 months
and 10 days of age. He moved to this
community, where he lived on his farm
for 66 years, where he died.
He was united in marriage to Polly
Ann Lanier December 22, -1845, who
preceded him to the grave about 44.
years ago.
His second marriage was to Fannie
Kerner, September 23 1869. To this
union were born eight children, of
whom five are living, viz: Thomas, of
Kokomo; Mrs, Emma McElfresh, of
this place; Mrs. Ada Lockman, of Freetown;
Mrs. Kate Davis, of Seymour,
and Ida, who lives at home with her
mother.
"Uncle Levi," as he was called, was
highly respected by all his friends. He
joined the Christian church in the early
part of his life and was baptized in the
year 1897 by Rev. G. M. Shutts.
Funeral services were held at Pleasant
Grove church Thursday at 10 o'clock
a. m.. Rev. G. M. Shutts officiating,
after which the remains were laid to
rest in the Wayman cemetery.
