Althea was born to Rollin J. and Emilie J. (Powell) Jolley on February 12, 1926 in Boise, Idaho. She joined a sister Arlene. She lived in Boise until 1937, when her parents purchased a small farm and moved to Meridian, Idaho. She graduated from Meridian High School in 1944. After graduating, Althea was employed at the Idaho Daily Statesman and Bureau of Reclamation.
She met and married Kenneth H. McGill in 1947. Three children were born to the couple - a boy and 2 girls. The family resided in Boise until 1952, when Kenneth returned to active duty military service. The family lived in many locations across the United States and had a couple of tours of duty in France. They moved to Chula Vista, CA when Kenneth retired in 1967 and moved to Pleasanton in 1984.
Althea was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years and 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Marsha and RJ Grimes of Pleasanton, CA and Donna and Bill Gordon of Sonora, CA and a grandson, granddaughter and great-grandson, Ken, Katie and Kole Grimes of Pleasanton and a granddaughter Emmy Grimes and boyfriend Curtis Milioti of Imperial Beach, CA. Althea battled cancer for 2 years.
Services will be held at Graham-Hitch Mortuary in Pleasanton at 10am Friday, May 29, 2009. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice in Dublin or the American Cancer Society.
