Wanda M. Swanson, 92, passed from this life on Friday, February 6, 2015 at the Golden Living Nursing Home, Pittsburg, KS.

Wanda was born on February 6, 1923 in Cain, (Sic) [Crane] MO to the union of Elmer and Ida M. (Edwards) Robbins.

She was united in marriage on January 21, 1961 in Baxter Springs, KS to Carl Andrew Swanson. He preceded her in death on December 14, 2012.

Wanda and Carl spent most of their time working on the family farm.

They were members of the First Baptist Church, Columbus, KS.

Wanda had a love for painting and had a collection of hundreds of pictures she had painted.

Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Henry “Bus” Robbins, and Rev. Joe Lynn Robbins; seven sisters, Gladys Cox, Clem Collins, Betty Pettus, Mable Lucille Robbins, Georgie Lee Robbins, and Dealia Robbins, and Calily Robbins.

Wanda is survived by thirteen nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at the Baxter Springs Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, Columbus, KS in care of the funeral home.

Reverend Joe Lynn Max Robbins
was welcomed by his Lord February 9, 2008.

Joe Lynn was born March 22, 1920 in Crane, Missouri to Elmer and Ida Robbins.

Joe Lynn moved to Baxter Springs, Kansas at the age of four. He graduated from Baxter Springs High School in 1938 and then attended Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, Missouri and Central Baptist Seminary in Kansas City, Kansas.

Brother Joe, beloved by many, was called to the ministry at the age of 17 and was ordained at the age of 19 by the First Baptist Church of Baxter Springs in 1939. He faithfully and lovingly served the Lord for 69 years by pastoring many churches in Kansas, Missouri and Colorado. Many learned to love and appreciate Brother Joe while he continued to preach the gospel by interning at both Fellowship and First Baptist Churches in Baxter Springs. His beliefs and trust in God sustained him in life and death.

Joe Lynn met his love and life partner, Katherine Nell Roberts, and they were married on January 18, 1941. She preceded him in death on May 6, 2002.

He is survived by his three children and their spouses — including daughter Linda Nell and husband Gene Leonhard of Baxter Springs, son Joseph David Robbins and wife Cindy of Yuma, Arizona, and daughter Katherine Clare and husband Rufus Black of Kansas City, Kansas. His pride and joy — his six grandchildren are Scott Gene Leonhard and wife Cheri of Blue Springs, Missouri, Heather Lynn and husband Jeff Kobs of Richardson, Texas, Christopher Aaron Leonhard and wife Leslie of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Tara Bethany and husband Anthony Cunningham of Dallas, Texas, Alexandra Lera Black of Kansas City, Kansas, and Zennon Rufus Black of Kansas City, Kansas. He has four step grandchildren Trevin Bachman and wife Angela of Meade, Kansas, Misti and husband Jeremy Caddell of Odessa, Texas, Blake Bachman and wife Nina of Yuma, Arizona, and Craig Bachman of Wichita, Kansas and Ryan Taylor of Glendale, Arizona. There are 10 great grandchildren and nine step-great grandchildren surviving. Joe Lynn also is survived by his loving sister and her husband, Wanda and Andrew Swanson of Columbus, Kansas, and many numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will be hosting a visitation honoring the life of Joe Lynn Max Robbins on Monday, February 11, 2008, from 7 - 8 p.m. at the Derfelt Funeral Home in Baxter Springs.

Funeral services for Joe Lynn Max Robbins will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2008, 11:00 a.m., at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Baxter Springs, Kansas.

Love offerings may be dedicated in Brother Joe's memory to the Fellowship Baptist Church, Baxter Springs, KS.
