From the Greenfield Vedette, July 13, 1944 -- EVERTON: W.L. Allen, who had lived here most of his life, died last Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. P. Holder, at Pratt, Kansas. The body was brought here for burial in Sinking Creek Cemetery, and funeral services were conducted at the Christian Church, where he had been a member for many years, Sunday afternoon. Will Allen, as everyone about here knew him, had been a farmer most of his life and in the past few years had been in ill health, so went to the daughter's home. There he was taken very ill for some time, but recovered enough that he did work about the home, even painted the house. Then suddenly he succumbed to a heart attack. He is survived by his wife, who is in the state hospital at Nevada, and by six children: Ollis Allen, Mrs. E.S. Stone of Kansas City, Mrs. Reba Holder, and another daughter, these four by a former marriage. Two other children, a son and a daughter, (Wilmer and Mildred) lived here until they grew up. We failed to get the present names of the daughters who married last.
