On July 11, 2008, in Cranberry Twp., PA, Nancy Duff Greenwood passed away after a brief illness. Nancy was born in Pittsburgh, PA, and brought up in Bellevue, PA. She was the daughter of William G. and Florence T. Duff of Bellevue. She will be remembered by her devoted husband of 64 years, Douglas E. Greenwood, her two children, Catherine Sweeney (John) and Douglas D. Greenwood (Susan Pate Greenwood) and four grandsons, Andrew T. Greenwood (Jennifer H.) and Alexander N. Greenwood and John D. Sweeney and Timothy C. Sweeney, as well as many dear cousins. She and her family lived in far flung locations, including the Philippines, Havana, Cuba, and San Juan, Puerto Rico. An accomplished musician and pianist, she worked as a professional accompanist at Carnegie Mellon University and Chatham College. She was a past president of the Pittsburgh Tuesday Musical Club. She graduated with a degree in music from Lake Erie College, Painesville, OH, and then completed further studies at the Conservatory of Music in San Juan, Puerto Rico. While in Puerto Rico, she accompanied for Conservatory musicians, including Maestro Pablo Casals and his wife, Martita. She will be remembered for her beauty, for her loving care of her extended family, for her love of words and lively spirit, and for many talents and skills, including the piano, tennis, sewing, bridge, and a show-stopping two-fingered whistle. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Sherwood Oaks Retirement Community. Private interment will be in Union Dale Cemetery.
