March 24, 1939 - January 1, 2015
Elizabeth (Ali) Davenport of Valrico, FL born to Bernard and Luvella Davenport in Warren County, Kentucky passed on January 30, 2015. She is survived by her loving partner, John Lane; her children, Tammy Young, Joey Young, Martha Diaz and husband, Christian; two grandchildren, Dylan and Dominic Martin; and two step-grandchildren, Iriana and Nicolas Diaz. She is also survived by her brother, Maurice Davenport, of Bowling Green, his wife Judy; several nieces and nephews; and countless loving friends.
After graduating Cum Laude from Western KY University, Ali began a 30-year career in Louisville teaching English before moving into guidance counseling. She served on the boards of the KY State Counselors, the Jefferson Co. Counselors' Assoc. and the Family and Children's Counseling Agency. She also completed several hours beyond her Masters Degree.
During her retirement Ms. Davenport loved gardening, bike riding, and following the activities of her grandchildren. She was especially dedicated to service by facilitating small group Bible studies at Hyde Park United Methodist Church in Tampa.
Visitation and Funeral services will be held at the J. C. Kirby & Son Funeral Chapel, 820 Lovers Lane, in Bowling Green, KY, 42103. Visitation: Thursday, February 5, 2015 4p – 8p CST and Friday, February 6, 2015 9a – 11a CST. Funeral: Friday February 6, 2015 11a CST with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery, Bowling Green, KY. A memorial will also be held at the Hyde Park United Methodist Church in Tampa, FL at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, we request expressions of sympathy in the form of contributions to a church of your choice.
