Rebecca Raney Lamb, of Greenwood, MS, died February 2, 2015. Born February 1, 1953, Rebecca grew up in Adelphi, Maryland, graduated from High Point High School. She attended Mississippi State University, was an active member of the Chi Omega sorority, and earned a bachelor’s degree in Business. Rebecca married Henry (Hank) Lamb on December 29, 1973 and was happily married for 41 years. Rebecca lived her life as a loving wife, devoted mother and selfless servant to all.
Rebecca began her service in scouting as a Girl Scout, a Girl Scout Troop leader in college, a Cub Scout Den Leader, and finally as a loving mother to three Eagle Scouts. She was instrumental in starting the “Begin with Reading Program” and the “Angel Tree project” through the Greenwood Altrusa Club. Rebecca is a life member of the Greenwood Junior Auxiliary and involved servant to the Greenwood Town and Country Garden Club. Rebecca’s service and membership in the Professional Photographers of Mississippi and Alabama was recognized by her receiving the Distinguished Mississippi Service Award. Rebecca was involved in the Mississippi State Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (MSSDAR) serving as the local regent of the Chakchiuma Chapter, a state officer, and as a member of the Board for the Historic Rosalie Mansion in Natchez. These listed acts of service are mere highlights of a life full of community and family service.

Rebecca was an active and loyal member of the Greenwood Episcopal Church of the Nativity. Throughout her nearly 40 years of membership, Rebecca was on the Altar Guild, in the parish choir, taught Sunday school, and volunteered in the youth ministries. Rebecca also served on rector search committees, on the church Vestry, and was the Senior Warden of the Vestry until her passing.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. William A. Raney. She is survived by her husband, Hank Lamb, sons, Andrew (Shelbi), John (Laura), and Watson (Katie) Lamb, sisters, Susan (Bill) McIntyre and Julia (Jay) Beavers, grandchildren, Drew, Macy, Tribble, Peyton, Gertrude, Rachel, Felix, Blair, Marilyn, Mark Abial, and Ferran Lamb, and many beloved family members.

Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 5th at Nativity Episcopal Church. The service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, February 6th at Nativity Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to the Memorial Garden Fund at Nativity Episcopal Church, 400 Howard St, Greenwood, MS 38930 or to the Rosalie Mansion House Fund, 100 Orleans St., Natchez, MS 39120.
