BABCOCK, FLOYD C.
Floyd, 90, of Julian, formerly of National City, passed away in his sleep on May 21, 2000 in Julian. Born January 22, 1910 in Minnesota, he moved with his family to the South Bay area and attended Sweetwater High School. He and his beloved wife of 64 years, Frances, raised five children. Pat and husband Jim Todd of Oregon; Barbara Shilling of Phoenix; Bill and Ginni Babcock of Julian; Judi Walls of Poway and Tom and Teri Babcock of Julian. Beloved grandpa to 13; great-grandpa to 22 and great great-grandpa to two. Also surviving are his sister, Helen Peterson of Tennessee, brother, Charles of Santee and many wonderful friends. While a brick mason, there was never a coffee break on his job sites that he didn't furnish sweet rolls and pastries for the "guys". Floyd was well known for donating his time to playing Santa Claus to all who asked. "Have Santa Suit Will Travel." He did this for over 40 years bringing many smiles to young faces. Floyd's green thumb was well known; his garden in Julian was a sight to behold! He will be greatly missed as the patriarch of the Babcock clan. A memorial service Saturday, May 27 2000, 11 a.m. at The LDS Church, Ethelwyn Lane at Highway 78 in Julian. Graveside service to follow at 2 p.m. at Glen Abbey Memorial Park, 3838 Bonita Rd, Bonita.
