Born to Fred Austin and Maude Belle Smith Hubble on January 25, 1917, Elsie was the 6th child and youngest daughter of the family. Elsie spent most of her childhood on the family dairy farm in Hendricks County Indiana.

Elsie married Ova Lowe on November 23, 1933. Interestingly, Elsie's older sister Esther Kathleen would marry Ova's older brother Obie in November, 1937.

Elsie and Ova had three children, Ova Jr., Kathryn Evalina, and Elsie Karen.

Elsie married Walter Joseph Davis in 1946.

My grandmother was a free spirit, with sparkling hazel eyes, and her Scotch Irish grandmother's nose. She loved the outdoors and some say when she was just a girl she was a "real tomboy". She enjoyed riding her pony, many times barefooted and playing with her siblings, there were 6, on the family farm. When I was very young she lived in her home that was situated on one acre of her father's 100 acre dairy farm. Back then the family referred to the farm as "the Hubble Farm", and to my grandmother's place the "Little Acre". She loved nothing better than to walk the land and woods, sometimes teaching me all along about the plants and animals that lived there. Fondest memories for me are times when we gathered wild blackberries, black raspberries, black walnuts, and morel mushrooms. After a time she and my granddad Walter moved in closer to the city, and even after many years she still pined to move "back to the country".
Affectionate and loving Elsie always smiled with her eyes and was a bit of free spirit ahead of her time.

At her passing Elsie was survived by her husband Walter, their children Kathryn and Elsie Karen, Sandra Sue, Walter Gus "Butch" (Patty), and Harvey Dee "Dink" (Donna), 22 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her beloved son, Ova Jr.
