Mrs. Catherine Herndon Burns, 70, wife of John S. Burns, died this morning at 8 o'clock at her home, 704 Lafayette avenue, following four weeks of illness due to a complication of diseases.

The body has been moved to the Hege & Flanigan funeral home and Sunday will be moved to the home of a daughter, Mrs. George E. Mitchell, 218 Third street, where services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with the -Rev. T. K. Smith in charge. Burial will be made in City cemetery.

Mrs. Burns was born in Kentucky but spent the greater part of her life here. She was a woman of kindly disposition, and had many friends. :

Surviving besides Mrs. Mitchell, are five other daughters. Mrs. Ike Hill, of Louisville, Mrs. Frank Kroetz, of Valparaiso, Mrs. Dorcey Davis, of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Walton Davis, of Edinburg, Mrs, Floyd Stanfield, of this city, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
