Roy Dupree Barnett, Jr., 75, died Saturday, January 31, 2015, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born in Shannon on July 8, 1939, to Roy D. and Myrtle Barnett . He worked at Lady Lee for 31 years, The North Mississippi Medical Center for 10 years, served as a Lee County Deputy Sheriff and as Coroner for 21 years.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2015 at Nettleton Church of Christ with Bro. Jimmy Bates and Bro. Jeff Bates officiating. A graveside to follow at Shannon Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include from Shannon, his wife of 58 years, Billie Barnett; daughter, Melissa LuAnn Barnett; grandchildren, Roy M. Barnett, Jr., Clifton Andrew Barnett (Gwen) and John Brandon Barnett; great-grandchildren, Bailee Alexander Gasaway and Kaleb Gage Barnett; one brother, Larry Barnett (Helen); a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy D. Barnett, Sr.; son, Roy M. Barnett, Sr.; daughter, Angela Diane Barnett and brother, Charles Romey Barnett.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday, February 1, 2015 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
