John Butler, 74, a retired farmer, died this morning at 2 o'clock from a cerebral hemorrhage at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Butler, Jr., Abbottstown R.1. He was in ill health two years and bedfast since last Saturday. he observed his birthday anniversary last Thursday.

The deceased was a native of Adams County, a son of the late John and Julia (Shanebrook) Butler. he was a member of the New Oxford Reformed church. His wife died two years ago.

Surviving are two sons and three daughters, William and Mrs. Walter Dugan, Littlestown R.D., Mrs. George Funkhouser, Gettysburg R.4; Mrs. William Potter, York; John Jr., with whom he resided; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and two step-brothers, William and Harvey Good, Gettysburg R.D.

Funeral services from the late home Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock with further services at the New Oxford Reformed church conducted by the Rev. Howard Sheely. Internment in New Oxford Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Butler home Friday evening from 7 to 9 o'clock.
