A beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, died, Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at his home in Zachary.

He was 94 years old and was retired from Coastal Contractors, Inc. with 34 years of service.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having been awarded a Purple Heart.

Visiting will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary on Friday, January 30, 2015, from 5 pm until 7 pm and continues on Saturday, January 31, 2015, from 1 pm until service at 2 pm conducted by Rev. Keith Cox. Burial will be in Azalea Rest Cemetery, Zachary.

He is survived by wife, Dorothy Lawrence Milam with whom he celebrated 67 years of marriage on January 17, 2015. 3 daughters, Shirley Snodgrass and husband, Joseph R.; Carolyn Warren and husband, Tommy; and Sandra Howard and husband, Dennis R. Sr. A son, John V. Milam, Jr. and wife, Melanie. Sisters, Mildred Turner, Leakesville, MS and Inez Hartman, Zachary. A brother, David Milam and wife, Glenda, Brandon, MS. 14 grandchildren, Marcel Steven Mary, John J. Snodgrass, Lisa Gebhardt, Wesley John Warren, Emil John Geiger, Amy Nicole Geiger, Dennis Howard, Jr., Holly Kay Howard, Lauren Milam, Jarrett Milam, Josh Milam, Joel Milam, Jacob Milam and Laynie Milam. 11 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by a grandson, Eric Warren, his parents, Jarret and Alva Milam, a sister, Joy Blackmon and 3 brothers, Wilmer, Charles and Jesse Milam.

Pallbearers will be Pete Hopkins, Leroy Hopkins, Marcel Steven Mary, John Joseph Snodgrass, Emil John Geiger and Dennis Raymond Howard, Jr.

He was an ordained deacon of the Baptist Faith.
