Darlene was born on May 6, 1942 in Maryville, Missouri to Vernon and Etta Mae (Parkhurst) McMichael.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Patricia Engelhard, brother, Donnie McMichael and granddaughter, Nicole Giancana.
She married James Sullwold, Sr. on December 13, 1980 in St. Joseph. He survives of the home.
Additional surviving family includes daughter, Diane (Kurt) Neff, of Easton, Missouri; son, Roger (Patty) Phillippe, Atchison, Kansas; step-children, James (Lisa) Sullwold, Jr., Gina Sturmborg and Pam (Jerry) Partridge; Grandchildren, Ryan, Nick, Josh, Elise, Donna, Dakota, Shyann and Barbara; brothers Vernon, Francis, Dean and Alan McMichael, sisters, Joyce, Carol and Martha and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Life 1:00 PM Monday, February 2, 2015 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph, Missouri; Interment Green Ridge Cemetery, Gentry, Missouri.
Visitation will begin after 1:00 PM Sunday at our chapel, where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM Sunday.
