==================
Monday Dec. 5th, Mr. John C. Alexander, an aged and most estimable gentleman, seemed to be in usual health, but before bedtime complained of not feeling very well. Nothing serious was apprehended until he suddenly fell from his chair in death's cold embrace. The funeral was conducted by Eld. E.G. Sewell, of Nashville, and the song service by Mr. Dougherty at Beech Grove Wednesday and the body was laid to rest in the Alexander burial ground. The Beech Grove congregation has lost an influential brother and his family a doting companion and father. An aged wife, one son and five daughters remain to mourn his sad death.
------
Card of Thanks. We take this as the best means of feebly expressing our sincere gratitude to all the friends and neighbors who so cheerfully ministered to our needs and so kindly tendered every feeling of sympathy in their power at the sudden bereavement to which we were called to submit in the death of our devoted husband and father, which occurred on the night of the 5th [inst]. Mrs. J.C. Alexander and children, Dec. 12th 1892.
