Jack Lawson Simpson, 66, of Viola, died on September 22, 1983, in Aledo, Illinois. He was born January 18, 1917, in Matherville, a son of Rebecca (Lawson) and Alex Simpson.

Jack was reared and received his education in Matherville and Viola schools. He married Darlene Langford on September 16, 1940, in Missouri.

Jack was a clerk at International Harvester Farmall Worker for 45 years retiring in 1980.

He was a member of the Viola United Methodist Church and a former member of Matherville Odd Fellows Lodge.

Surviving are: his wife; two daughters, Linda Jones of Roscoe, IL, and Marge Lambrecht of Moline; three grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie Birkhead of Moline.
