To Harrison Co. 1818 owned 160 acres, Sec. 19, T4s, R5e, died age 94 yrs, 10 mos. 5 das. Rev. War soldier; Pension Claim # S-16171.

Henson married Jane Johnson on 3 December 1796 in Jefferson County, Kentucky at the approximate age of 33 years, 9 months and 8 days. The possibility of Henson having a prior marriage is high.

Jane died May 1, 1846, age 73 years, 5 months, 9 days.

According to the application of William Joseph Bulleit, grandson of Amos Johnson, great-grandson of Henson Johnson, to the Indiana Society of of the Sons of the American Revolution, Henson died the 9th day of June, 1859. Pension papers give a death month of January.

Private, American Revolutionary War; Virginia Militia: served under Captain Frost and Colonel Edmunds.

According to William Bulleit's application, after the date of November, 1780, Henson served 12 years and 15 days with the new American Army. After the date of February 1781, he was with the Army for five or 6 more months. The numbers as indicated don't add up and I searched for the actual pension papers.

*According to the actual pension papers, Henson was drafted into the American Army for three months beginning in the November before Cornwallis surrendered and a year before the surrender in the company commanded by Captain Bell, and was ___at Ferrysburg at the Shenandoah in Frederick County, Virginia. Henson served six months after the year of 1780. In 1832, Henson testified in open court that he was 69 years old, by traditionary evidence he served 12 days in 1780 and 6 months in 1781. He completed one tour. There are many details of his service in the pension papers and the handwriting is extremely difficult to read.

The previous memorial manager had the following information in this bio section:
Henson remarried to Mary, who moved to MO after his death in 1858. Mary died Dec. 20, 1899.
My notes:
--I find no evidence of another marriage in Indiana to a Mary, however I did find a marriage for a Henson Johnson to Jane Brackett on 2 August 1827 in Burke County, North Carolina. That Henson and Jane are on the 1830 Census in Burke County, NC as being between the ages of 20-29 with one young child under the age of 5. That would make that Henson and Jane at the outmost with birth dates between 1800 and 1810. Those individuals are therefore not the Harrison County Johnson family. There is also no mention of a marriage to a Mary in Henson's pension papers or the application to the Sons of the Revolution.
By 1840 Henson is in Posey, Harrison County, Indiana age 77 and a veteran, along with James Johnson age 80 and James Case age 79.
Henson Johnson, one male age 70 and under 80, one female age 10 and under 15, one female age 60 and under 70.
1850 census: Henson Johnson age 87 is living with his son, Amos Johnson and Amos' family. Son Amos is enumerated as being born in Kentucky about 1810. This matches.
