Gordon Wyland Blackstock, 40, of Turner Valley died in Colonel Belcher hospital Monday after a lengthy illness. He was born in Indian Head, Sask. He went to Eastern Oregon 38 years ago, returning to Piapot, Sask., in 1918, and a year later moved to Black Diamond. He served with the Canadian army overseas in 1940 with the Hamilton Light Infantry, 1st Battalion, and returned to Calgary in 1945. He was a member of the Turner Valley Anglican Church, and a member of the Canadian Legion, Turner Valley. He leaves his wife, Olive May; one daughter, three sons, all of Turner Valley; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Blackstock, Black Diamond; two sisters, Mrs. Bernard Kinch, Black Diamond, Mrs. William Bell, Edmonton; four brothers, Harvey, Toronto; Stanley and Charles, Calgary; Walter, Raymond.
