Margie Mae Harper Benson, 97, of Owensboro passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Wellington Parc. Born in Butler County on June 29, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Ecklus and Mazie Kitchens Harper; was retired from the Daviess County Schools where she worked in Food Service; and was a member of Riverside Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Benson in 1999; sons, Jack Benson and Billy Benson; grandsons, Byron Benson and Marc Benson; brothers, Arvil Harper and Leon Harper; and sisters, Jean Russ, Pearl Drake and Sue Hartis.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Karen Benson of Owensboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Steve Spurrier of Owensboro; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; sisters, June Humphrey of Butler County, and Doris Banks of Owensboro; and many nieces and nephews.

Services are 12 noon Saturday, January 31, 2015 in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with her great-nephew, Rev. Larry Baker officiating followed by burial in Rosehill Cemetery.
