Steve Matherly, age 63, of Piney Flats passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at his residence.
He was born in Washington County, TN, a son of Hazel Ford Durham and the late Wright Matherly. He attended Pilgrim Baptist Church and enjoyed farming.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Trula Mae Matherly and a sister, Linda Vandavender.
Survivors include one daughter, Debbie M. Lowe and husband Tim of Piney Flats; one son John Matherly and wife Jessica of Piney Flats; and six grandchildren, Lisa Matherly, Jonathan Matherly, Daniel Matherly, Timothy Lowe, Austin Lowe and Justin Lowe all of Piney Flats.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Mr. Matherly will be conducted at 8:00 pm Friday, January 30, 2015 at Tetrick Funeral Home – Bluff City Chapel with Rev. Michael Reece officiating. Music will be under the direction of Jeff Millsaps. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm prior to the service in the chapel.
The graveside service and interment will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 31, 2015 in the Sanders Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Michael Whetsel, Doug Lowe, Barry King, Jackie Trivett, Aaron Mason and Jeff Millsaps, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 pm Saturday.
