RONALD "RON" GLENN -- HOBART, IN -- Ronald "Ron" Glenn, age 84, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at his home in Hobart. Ron was born to Laura Hazel and Fred Glenn in Gary. After graduating from Horace Mann High School and serving in the Marine Corp he received his Engineering Degree from Purdue University. He then began his career in industrial and commercial construction. This took him to several states building churches, schools, office buildings, airport hangers, hotels and the Star Theatre. For the past 25 years he worked in CA where among other things he built the launch pads at Vandenburg Air Force Base for the space program. Throughout his career he received many awards for numerous projects and was recognized for his outstanding work by Who's Who in Construction. Ron was very community minded and was a member and officer in numerous organizations. He also was very supportive of his wife's numerous charitable organizations not only with his money but his time. Since returning to IN Ron attended First United Methodist Church in Hobart.
He is survived by his wife, Lou; daughter, Diane (Robert) Thiel; son, Richard (Deanna); granddaughters: Erika and Hailey Glenn, Kelly and Amy Thiel; nieces: Laura (Ed) Karsten, their three children and grandchildren, Dina (Ted) Hernandez, their two sons, and Nikki Petroff. He also leaves his best friend and brother-in-law, L.J. (Bud) Crist, wife, Sharon and their family. Preceded in death by his sister, Doris (Nick) Petroff.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 12:00 noon at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd. with Rev. Robert Carder officiating.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 30, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart with private burial at Graceland Cemetery. www.reesfuneralhomes.com
