Marcella G. Scudder, 91, of Versailles passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Community South Hospital in Greenwood. She was born at Friendship on April 29, 1923 the daughter of George and Mayme Reamer Dresselhaus. She was married to Wilbur “Bud” Scudder on February 12, 1949 and he preceded her in death on April 28, 2004. Survivors include one son Steve (Julie) Scudder of Greenwood; two grandchildren Kevin and Maura Scudder of Greenwood; three sisters-in-law Joyce Dresselhaus of Cincinnati, Helen Scudder of Lawrenceburg, and Viola Dresselhaus of Friendship, along with several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers Howard, Dale, and Norman Dresselhaus. Mrs. Scudder grew up in Friendship, attended the Friendship School, and was a 1940 graduate of Cross Plains High School. In her younger years Marcella was employed as a nanny in Cincinnati. She retired in 1987 after 44 years with Joseph A. Seagram in Lawrenceburg where she worked as a sealer operator. Marcella was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church in Friendship. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 29th at 11am at the Bear Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Sherman Hughes officiating. Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery at Olean. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of services Thursday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Bear Creek Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
