Florence Dalton
Florence Dalton, 98, of Vienna, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston, after a short illness.
She was born in Roane County, a daughter of the late Aaron and Almon Graham Tawney. She worked at the former Spencer State Hospital, and along with her late husband, was in business in the vicinity of their home in Vienna. She was a longtime member of Vienna Baptist Church and the Grand Chapter of Eastern Star.
She is survived by sisters, Mamie Haines of Newton and Anne Despasito of Albuquerque, N.M.; brothers, Clement Tawney of Tariff, Jarrett “Buzz” Tawney of Spencer and Dan Tawney of Newton; two step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special neighbor and friend, Gary Sall of Vienna.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack S. Dalton; one stepson; four brothers; and one sister.
Service was Saturday, March 7 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna, with Rev. Bill Brown officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
