Thelma & Gordon moved to Chicago about 1941. During WWII, Gordon worked in defense at the Chrysler plant in South Chicago at 79th Street and Cicero Avenue, which now houses the Ford City Shopping Mall. After the war, he worked for Landon Cartage Company; his last six years of employment there, he served this company as dock foreman until his death.
