Joseph Allen, a well known former
resident of this city, passed away
at Washington, Ia. yesterday, ac-
cording to word received by Musca-
tine friends today.
His death was due to heart trouble
and followed a brief illness. Mr.
and Mrs. Allen resided in Muscatine
for some years, removing to Washing-
ton only a month ago.
He was a survivor of the civil war
although not affiliated with the
G. A. R.
Aside from his widow he is survived
by three children, they being Clayton
Allen of Wapello, Ia.; Mrs. Will
Jurging of Washington, and Mrs.
George Rebhen of Yorkville, Ill.
The funeral services will be held at
Washington on Sunday afternoon.
