Betty E. Young, age 90 of Defiance, OH passed from this life to her heavenly home on February 8, 2014, at the CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center, while surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Vernon Young.

Betty was born in Port Clinton, OH on October 2, 1923 and lived there until she married Vernon Young on August 11, 1946 in Springfield, OH. She was the daughter of Norris & Hazel (McClure) Rickner, and sister to 14 siblings. Betty devoted her life to God at the age of 15, and served Him faithfully her whole life. She was a member of the Defiance Church of the Nazarene, and the 1941 Class of Port Clinton High School.

Besides her husband Vernon, Betty leaves her nine children; Daniel (Karen) Young of Holgate, OH, Mardelle (Timothy) Bess of Chester, WV, Edward (Brenda) Young of Defiance, OH, Brenda (Ralph) Lloyd of Defiance, OH, James (Amy) Young of Hamilton, IN, Marvin (Cindy) Young of Defiance, OH, Paul (Cyndi Ensign) Young of Defiance, OH, Tom (Marie) Young of Englewood, OH, & Wanda (Sam) Suman of Findlay, OH, two brothers; Alvin & Larry Rickner, three sisters; Janice Meggett, Verna Lacer, and Sharon Cover, 25 grandchildren, and 42 great-grandchildren, who lovingly called Betty "Little Gramma".

Betty was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 6 sisters, and two grandsons; David & Jason Young.

Visitation will be held from 2:00-8:00 PM, on Thursday February 13, 2014 at Schaffer Funeral Home, and 1 hour prior to the services at church.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Friday February 14, 2014 at the Defiance Church of the Nazarene, with Rev. Don Leonard, and sons-in-law; Rev. Timothy Bess, and Rev. Sam Suman, officiating.

Entombment will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens.

Memorials in Betty's name may be made to Defiance CHP Inpatient Hospice Center, or the Alzheimer's Association.
