AUGUSTA - Pearl K. Fisher, 98, of the Woodlands in Hallowell, died Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Gray Birch. She was born on May 4, 1916 in Belgrade, the daughter of Walter and Edna (Bickford) Knowles.

Pearl graduated from Belgrade High School as Valedictorian of the Class of 1933. She graduated from Gates Business College in 1934 and attended two semesters at the University of Maine, Augusta where she took refresher courses in accounting.

On June 4, 1938 she married Merle W. Fisher.Pearl worked for Fifield Bros as a secretary and bookkeeper for 10 years. During WWII, she was a civilian payroll clerk for the Army at the New Orleans Port of Embarkation, and from 1955 to 1967 she was a bookkeeper at Wadleigh's. From 1967 to May of 1970, she was a payroll clerk at the Boca Raton Hotel and Club, Boca Raton, Florida; served as an accountant clerk at the Ocean Club of Florida in Delray Beach; and worked for Howard Smith, Tax Accountant. In May of 1970, Pearl went to work in the Accounting Department of the Medical Care Development in Augusta, where she worked until her retirement as accountant in 1982.

Pearl was predeceased by Merle, her husband of 72 years, who died Augusta 16, 2010. She is survived by daughters Sheryl A. Lane and friend Richard Seilhan of Farmingdale, and Kristy E. Creamer and her husband Robert of Hallowell; six grandchildren, Gary Creamer of Arizona, Scott Lane and his wife Cheryl of Ohio, Heather Colby of Winthrop, Wendy Naftzger and her husband Donald of Georgia, Chad Lane of Utah, and Darcie Chipman and her husband Samuel of Utah; also eight great-grandchildren; and several cousins.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Riverside Cemetery, Bangor Street, Augusta.

Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home and Cremation Service, One Church St., Augusta.
