Death Comes Tuesday Evening Following 2 Strokes Suffered Friday

Elijah Robert Hudson, 76, died Tuesday evening at 7:30 o'clock at the home at 604 West Washington street. Paralysis was the cause of death, Mr. Hudson having suffered two strokes during Friday. He had been in ill health for the past eighteen months. A machinist by trade, Mr. Hudson had made his home in Shelbyville for the past twenty-nine years. He was born in Kentucky, August 1, 1855 and at the time of death was aged 76 years, five months and twenty-six days. On May 17, 1876, he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah M. Martin. To this union six children were born, five of whom survive. They are Mrs. George Richardson, Mrs. Clyde Campbell, James Hudson and Miss Viva Hudson, all of this city, and Forrest of Paris, Kentucky. There are also five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one brother, Lafayette Hudson, of Louisville, Kentucky, and one sister Mrs. Alex Shipp, of this city. Funeral services will be held at the home Friday morning at 10 o'clock in charge of Rev. A. E. Cowley, pastor of the First Baptist church, of which the deceased was a member. Burial will be made in Forest Hill Cemetery in charge of C.F. Fix and Son, funeral directors. Friends may call at the homeat any time. It is requested that flowers be omitted.
