Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Hudson Colvin, 56 years of age, were held Thursday, March 29 at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. D. L. Druien. Burial was in the Good Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Colvin died at her home near Finley Tuesday after a short illness of asthma. Mrs. Colvin was married to Robert Colvin Dec. 1906. To this union three sons and two daughters were born. Surviving are her husband; children: Roy, New Palestine, Ind., Floyd, U. S. Army at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Dennis Colvin, county, Mrs. Jesse O'Banion, Shelbyville, Ind. She also leaves her mother, Mrs. Maggie Hudson, county; two brothers, J. D. Hudson, county, George Hudson, Shelbyville, Ind., and a sister, Mrs. Vester Goff, county, and four grandchildren. Mrs. Colvin was a faithful member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Pallbearers were: Obie Raffety, Malcolm Mardis, Lee Mardis, Floyd Bright, Ernest Raffety, and Jim R. Richerson. Flowerbearers were: Mrs. Malcolm Mardis, Mrs. Cora Colvin, Mrs. Clarence Richerson, Mrs. Will Bright, Mrs. Nannie Richerson, and Mrs. Carl Philpott. ~The News-Journal, Thursday, April 8, 1943
