Mary Jane (Tomlin) Carter was born on October 1, 1876 in Williamson County, Tennessee, the daughter of John Wesley Tomlin (1857-1932) and Martha (Deason) Tomlin (ca 1857- ). [The Death Certificate for Mary's father John lists his burial at "Franklin," but whether that's the name of the cemetery or the community, is unknown.]
She was married in 1898 to Eugene Henry Carter (1877–1942), the son of John Carter and Susie (Hicks) Carter.
Living at 1407 Dodson Street, Nashville, Mary was 66 years old and a widow when she died of heart failure on October 18, 1942 at Nashville's Vanderbilt University Hospital where she had been for five days. Burial was two days later in Spring Hill Cemetery, Madison.
Much of the above is from her Death Certificate, with W E Carter (son) of Madison as the informant.
