Eugene Henry Carter was born on November 7, 1877 in Franklin, Williamson County, Tennessee, the son of John Carter and Susie (Hicks) Carter.
He was married in 1898 to Mary Jane (Tomlin) Carter (1876–1942), the daughter of John Wesley Tomlin (1857–1932) and Martha (Deason) Tomlin (ca 1857– ).
An ice puller for O H Ice & Coal Company in Old Hickory, Davidson County, Tennessee, Eugene was a resident of 1407 Dodson Street, Old Hickory. He was 64 years old when he was accidentally electrocuted at work on June 8, 1942, and he died of shock and burns. Burial was the next day in Spring Hill Cemetery, Madison.
