Born Aug. 6, 1958, in Ashland, he was the son of Eugene G. and Dixie J. (née Humrichouser) Cooper.
Rollie grew up in Rowsburg and graduated from Ashland High School in 1977.
He worked for the City of Ashland Water Treatment Plant, retiring after 25 years. He had also worked at the Lyn-Way Restaurant and with his wife, Judy, at Bella Bleu's at the Water's Edge.
Rollie loved animals, especially his Labrador dogs. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed following The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns, but his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Judy (née Toberen) Cooper; a son, Jordan (Katie) Cooper of Athens; a daughter, Maggie (Brian) Cooper of Wooster, who is expecting Rollie's first grandchild, about whom he was very excited; a brother, Garry Cooper of Ashland; a sister, Jayne Feathers of West Lafayette, Indiana; his mother-in-law, Beverly Toberen of Ashland; a brother-in-law, Richard Toberen of Santa Barbara, California; two sisters-in-law, Debra Sheridan of Wadsworth and Jill (Brent) Brinkerhoff of Lexington; two nephews, Ryan Brinkerhoff and Ryan Cooper; a niece, Erin Brinkerhoff; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who were like his brothers and sisters.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, William Toberen; and two brothers-in-law, Todd Sheridan and Ron Feathers.
A gathering for family and friends will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 22, 2015, at Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Ave., Ashland. Celebration of life service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at Grace Brethren Church, 1144 West Main St., Ashland, conducted by Pastor Dan Allan.
