Mrs. Darlene Stanley Hudson, daughter of the late Christopher Columbus and Marie Davis Stanley was born December 17, 1958, in Conway, South Carolina. God saw Darlene getting tired and he came early Monday, October 31, 2011, and took her to eternal rest.

At an early age, Darlene accepted Christ and became a member of the Greater St. James AME Church. She was a member of class #5 and was a very active member serving on various organizations. She served as a member of the Steward Board, Missionary Board, Church School Secretary and Christian Education Director. Darlene also served as Assistant Church Musician, member of the Adult Usher Board, YPD Director and a member of the Inspirational Choir.

Darlene loved her church and never let her illness stop her from doing her church work. No matter what, while in the hospital or back at home, she never stopped doing work for Christ.

Darlene is a 1976 graduate of Conway High School and received both her Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education and a Master of Education from the University of South Carolina. She taught school as a 3rd grade teacher at Conway Elementary School for 10 years.

Darlene was united in marriage to Paul Hudson on December 18, 1982, and to this union they have two children. Darlene is survived by her husband of 29 years; Paul Hudson, one son; Christopher Craig (Michelle) Hudson of Conway, South Carolina, one daughter; Jaleesa Marie Hudson of Greenbelt, Maryland, one grandson Christopher Craig Hudson Jr., her mother; Marie Davis Stanley, one sister; Martha E. Stanley of Laurel, Maryland; two brothers, Tyrone (Sheryl) Stanley of Jacksonville, Florida and Richard (Doris) Jones of Columbia, South Carolina, four brothers-in-law; Charles Crosby of Temple Hills, Eddie (Loretta) Johnson of Conway, South Carolina, Donald (Diane) Hudson of Conway, South Carolina and Mack Hudson of Conway, South Carolina, one sister-in-law; Bessie Johnson of Peekskill, New York, one uncle; Harry (Hessie) Davis of Hampton, Virginia, four aunts; Ernestine Davis of Hampton, Virginia, Virginia Stanley of Dillon, South Carolina, Daisy Stanley of Conway, South Carolina and Ellen Stanley of Silver Spring, Maryland, a very special niece; Katrina (Adrian) Harris of Laurel, Maryland and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Two very special friends; Sylvia Grissett and Sharon McCants who were always there to lend a helping hand. Richard Cochran, Marcia Ransom and Sheila Ransom… friends forever.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hudson will be held on Saturday November 5, 2011, in Greater St. James AME Church in the Cochran Community, at 11:00a.m. Visitation will be Friday November 4, 2011, from 6pm to 8pm also in Greater St. James AME Church.
