Delphine E. Murphy, 83, of Great Falls, Montana, a retired licensed practical nurse, died of natural causes.

Born in New Jursey she grew up and attended school in Dunmore, Pennsylvania. She married Frances John Murphy in 1946 in Dunmore.

Delphine worked in the Bayonne Shipyards as a riveter during World War II on PT boats. She later worked as a licensed practical nurse.

She was active in Maryland Extension Homemakers and the Maryland Lung Association. She enjoyed reading, music, and family gatherings.

Survivors include her daughters, Loretta Gail Stewart of Great Falls, Mary Janet Simmons of Waldorf, Maryland, Cathleen A. Hand of Oak Harbor, Washington, and Francis Jane Spellacy of Ohio; step-daughter, Carol Bufonte of Garfield Heights, Dunmore, Pennsylvania; sister, Alice Plantec of Milltown, New Jursey; 19 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, on January 23, 1997 and son-in-law, David Hand, in 2005.

A memorial service was held at the O'Conner Memorial Chapel. She joins her husband at Arlington National Cemetery.
