Ernest was born in Rutherford County NC on July 4, 1933 and was a son of the late William Roscoe Metcalf and Mary Sue Sisk Metcalf. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by nine siblings – Glen, Gary, Frank, Richard, Blanche, James, Joyce, Earl and J.Y.
Left to cherish his memories was his wife Emily Hooper Metcalf, children – Sam Metcalf, Bill Metcalf, Kimberly Metcalf, David Metcalf, Grant Metcalf, stepchildren – Frankie McMahan, Ethel Vance and Charles Williams; one brother Jack Metcalf, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, eight step grandchildren, four step great grandchildren, as well as a number of other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life was held 2 PM Sunday March 3, 2013 at Crowe’s Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bruce Caldwell officiating. Mr. Metcalf was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and will be provided military honors by The Rutherford County Veterans Honor Guard.
