Bishop Tommy Z. Stone was born on July 16, 1924, and went to his heavenly home on May 6, 2014. He was a member of the Sumiton Church of God. He accepted the call to preach the Gospel in 1947. His daily prayer was "Lord let me go to sleep in Sumiton and wake up in Gloryland." The Lord answered that prayer Tuesday at 1:05 p.m. at his residence.



Stone was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Evelyn Stone; father and mother, Tom and Annie Stone; six brothers; four sisters; his son-in-law, Hubert Barnett; and great-grandchild, Erik Wilkins.

His survivors include his daughters, sister, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pall bearers will be his grandsons, Shane, Darryl, Scott, Terry, Alan, and Jonathan.
