Death of Mrs. John Hemmer
The funeral of the late Mrs. John Hemmer was held Monday morning at 9 o'clock from the family homestead on Lincoln St., at 9:30 at St. Mary's Church, the Christian Mothers' society and the Lady Maccabees attending in a body. The Rev. Leo G. Hofschueider was the celebrant of the requiem solemn High Mass, Rev. Ferdinand Scheid of Perkinsville deacon and Rev. John E. Masneth of St. Patick's Church subdeacon. Representatives of both societies of which Mrs. Hemmer was a member accompanied the remains to Greenmount Cemetery where interment was made on the family plot.
Mrs. Hemmer who was born in New York City was 62 years old. She was a daughter of the late Alderman and Mrs. John F. Michel and the oldest of a family seven children. With her parents, Mrs. Hemmer came to Danaville to live when 13 years of age. For about six years her health has been failing, death resulting Friday morning at an early hour from a complication of diseases. The large spiritual bouquet of mass cards and the many many beautiful floral tributes which enveloped her casket were fragrant testimonials of the love and esteem in which the beloved woman was held.
Mrs. Hemmer is survived by her husband, three sons, P. A. Hemmer of Rochester; Fred J. and Otto Hemmer of Dansville; four daughters, Miss Helen C. Hemmer, Mrs. Edward P. Schledorn, Mrs. M. J. Heiman and Miss Elisabeth Hemmer of Dansville; four grandchildren Rita and Richard Schledorn of Dansville, Jean and Dorris Hemmer of Rochester; a brother Edward Michel of Rochester; two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Stadler of Danaville and Miss Clara Michel of Rochester.
