Police Chief W.H. Kilpatrick’s death last Friday was a shock to the community. He will be greatly missed here. His friendliness, devotion to duty, to family, church and community were just a few of his qualities greatly admired by all who knew him.
His unusual emphasis on safety in his town had paid off in fewer accidents and an outstanding record of absolutely no fatalities or even serious injuries in the school zones.
He served his town well in his position as Chief of Police. But he served it well too, as a man who was devoted to his family and to his church and to all things in this community which go to make a better place in which to live.
Our sympathy goes to his family who were just as devoted to him as he was to them. We can only say that we, too, will miss Chief Kilpatrick.
