JAMES METZGER
Morton - James Leroy Metzger, 72, of Morton, passed away at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at Apostolic Christian Nursing Home in Eureka.
He was born Dec. 8, 1942, in Sabetha, Kan. to Phillip and Bertha (Affolter) Metzger. He married Jean Seidel on Aug. 18, 1963 in Princeville, Ill.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Metzger of Morton; two sons, Trent (Julie) Metzger of Dunlap and Scott (Kjersten) Metzger of Dunlap; three grandchildren, Lincoln, Reagan and Annika Metzger; six sisters, Phyllis Banwart of West Bend, Iowa, Mary (Dale) Knobloch of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Barbara Edelman of Sabetha, Kan., Delores Metzger of Peoria, Carol (Doug) Moser of Peoria, Ariz. and Cheryl Metzger of Sabetha, Kan.; two brothers, Clayton (Jean) Metzger of Canby, Ore. and Ronald (Sherrill) Metzger of Hendersonville, N.C.; 32 nieces and nephews; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
James graduated from Sabetha High School, Sabetha, Kan. in 1960. He attended Kansas State University taking pre-pharmacy courses and graduated from University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy. James then received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Michigan.
He was a member of the Morton Apostolic Christian Church.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at Princeville Apostolic Christian Church in Princeville, Ill., with Apostolic Christian Church ministers officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Further visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m., Friday at the church. Burial will be in the Princeville Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.
